Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I get started?
A: Call us at (559) 438-8531 to schedule your first visit. If you already have a perscription from your physician for physical therapy, bring it with you on your first visit so that we can initiate treatment. Otherwise, you can come in for a quick screening and we will let you know if physical therapy can help you condition.
Q: How long is each visit?
A: About an hour. We respect your time, so time spent in the waiting room will be minimal. Arrive 15 minutes early for your initial evaluation.

Q: Will treatment hurt?
A: "No pain, no gain," is usually not the best policy. Most pain is there for a good reason and it serves as a warning that we should listen to, so that additional trauma can be avoided. Although new movement can cause some delayed soreness, our goal is to relieve pain, not cause it.
Q: What will happen on my fist visit?
A: Your therapist will evaluate your condition and develop a treatment plan directed towards alleviating your symptoms. Our initial treatments usually focus on reducing pain and restoring movement. Eventually, treatment is progressed to include active exercises so that short term improvement can lead to long term resolution of your condition.
Q: How many visits will it take?
A: Most patients are seen for 6 to 9 visits, and then progressed to independent management. Occasionally, additional visits are necessary.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: Insurance pays for most of our services. Typically, our patients have a $5 to $15 co-pay. Those without insurance can pay cash.
Q: Can I choose my own therapist?
A: Yes. Even if your prescription on the referral slip is for a different clinic, we can see you at McGuire Physical Therapy. If you have a preference, you can choose any of our clinicians as your therapist.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Something comfortable. Lockers are provided for those who bring an extra set of clothes.
